GLOUCESTER POINT, Va. (AP) — Authorities say they believe a body found in Virginia is that of a 13-year-old boy who went missing while swimming with family members.
The Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that someone walking on a beach in the Gloucester Point area found a body early Sunday. The sheriff’s office says they believe the body is that of the missing boy.
Authorities say the body was found about a half mile from where the boy was swimming with family at Gloucester Point Beach Friday afternoon when he was reported missing.
The sheriff’s office says authorities have sent the body to the medical examiner’s office for positive identification.
The Coast Guard conducted a 13-hour search for the teen before suspending it on Saturday.
